About me.

Sandra, founder of Feminine Rhythm. I found out I had PMDD at 26. Much of finding my way has been retrieving my voice, finding other women like me and learning to trust my own experience again.

MY STORY

ETHICS

01 / MY STORY

My story.

I found out I had PMDD at age 26 and was officially diagnosed at age 28. When I was given my diagnosis, I felt anger at the offers for help - only medication. I was told by the GYN/OB that if I did not take this medication, I would try to attempt suicide. I was outraged at being insulted by a doctor who claimed I was unstable. But I used that pain and began to speak out about PMDD.

I began travelling, getting my tantric yoga qualifications, learning to fight in the Mexican desert, sitting out with the moon each night to connect, living in solitude at the foothills of the Himalayas and meditating in a forest monastery - all whilst working with women with PMDD and running online workshops. I found myself seeking answers for the meaning of suffering.

Having experienced PMDD since I was 13 years old, been misdiagnosed with BPD and been tested for Bipolar, I found in working with women, travelling to other countries and seeking philosophical and spiritual reasons, that our perspective on health, wellbeing and healing is built on a perspective that life does not include pain, but also that there is something wrong with us that needs to be fixed.

I found that so much of navigating wholeness was retrieving my voice again, finding other women like myself, and through self-education and research.

02 / WHY FEMININE RHYTHM EXISTS

Why Feminine Rhythm exists.

The mission of Feminine Rhythm is to help women in all walks of life learn to gain agency, autonomy and self-trust, and to build a community on ethics, morality and vulnerability that is not exploited - and helps to foster true sovereignty.

That is why within our mission we begin and continue to work with women with PMDD and PME: to support them through education, finding THEIR rhythm and what works for them.

Because we believe that it's your choice how you navigate your life. And all we aim to do is help you find the choices that suit you.

We also aim to expand our horizons into universities, schools, the corporate world and entrepreneurship, to help girls and women learn how to embrace their menstrual cycle and the challenges around it, so they can live full lives. We focus on helping women understand their cycle, body image, poverty, trauma and perceptions of religion and philosophy. As we know, wellbeing is built on our relationship with our body, our relationship with money, our relationship with life and why we suffer, and as women our relationship with womanhood.

We do not believe we know the answers for your life. We believe that these answers are built through the framework to build trust in yourself again.

03 / OUR ETHICS

At Feminine Rhythm, we believe in ethics.

We know how vulnerable people can be, and our core principles are built on:

Giving people agency, not exploiting vulnerability

We ourselves have been exploited in our most vulnerable moments.

Honesty and Fairness

We believe in being honest about what we know, what we don't know and what we are still learning.

Education as a source of power and autonomy, not influential marketing

We aim, as best we can, to give you the research to help you make the right decision.

Freedom to speak and explore

Feminine Rhythm is built as a business to allow our voices to stay free to speak openly about menstrual wellbeing, philosophy, anthropology and research.

Community

Workshops and education built on allowing women to build trust and safety in their own bodies, cyclical nature and lives again. So they can begin to be vulnerable, not feel shame, and have others around that say: "Me too."

An open business model

We work as an open business model to allow ourselves to grow and expand and reach women internationally who struggle with their emotional wellbeing.

Because we believe that it's your choice how you navigate your life.
